Facebook not loading in Russia? Troubleshoot safely
A loading failure, app error and account security check are not the same problem. Separate account, device and network causes before testing another route.
Separate an account issue from a connection issue
First note the exact symptom: the app may stay on a loading screen, the website may time out, or Facebook may ask for an identity check. An account challenge is not solved by repeatedly changing IP addresses and may become harder to resolve after many login attempts.
Try facebook.com in an updated browser without signing out of a working session. If the browser loads but the app does not, update the app and check its data permission. If both fail while other sites work, continue with a controlled network comparison.
Protect the Facebook account before troubleshooting
Review recent login alerts and active sessions from a trusted device. Use a unique password and two-factor authentication. Do not share a verification code with anyone claiming to provide VPN or Facebook support.
A sudden country or IP change can trigger an automated security review. Follow the instructions shown on the official facebook.com domain or in the official app. Avoid unofficial account recovery pages and browser extensions that ask for your password.
Compare the base network and one MosVPN connection
With all VPNs disconnected, open several normal sites, verify date and time and complete any Wi-Fi sign-in page. Then connect MosVPN, check that the public IP changes and retry Facebook in the same browser.
Keep the device, network and server constant. Compare Wi-Fi and mobile data only after the first test is complete. If one operator fails and another works, that narrows the problem but does not prove a specific filtering method.
Use reversible checks before deleting data
Update the browser and Facebook app, disable an unknown proxy or conflicting VPN and clear only temporary browser data if necessary. Save recovery codes before signing out. Do not reset the whole phone or delete a managed profile merely to solve one site.
If Facebook alone remains unavailable, check its public service status and the account notice. If all traffic fails after connecting, return to the base network, DNS, system time and VPN-profile checks.
Frequently asked questions
Why does Facebook work in a browser but not in the app?
The app may be outdated, restricted from using mobile data or holding damaged temporary data. Check those items before reinstalling or changing the VPN.
Why did Facebook request an identity check after connecting?
A new IP or location can trigger automated account protection. Follow only the official Facebook flow and do not send verification codes to VPN support.
Does a changed IP prove Facebook will work?
No. It confirms the network route changed, but account status, DNS, app state and Facebook availability can still affect access.
What should I avoid while troubleshooting?
Avoid repeated login attempts, unofficial recovery pages, unknown browser extensions and changing multiple network settings in one test.
